Our design process is rooted in
over a decade's worth of research
and experimentation.

The goal is to establish
climate adaptive gardens that will
restore our ecology and
localize our food systems.

  • Decolonize Agriculture

To figure out how to move forward we must first look to the past and learn from our indigenous brothers and sisters. They have nurtured all of Turtle Island (North America) for thousands of years towards a perfectly sustainable food system.

We have to bring back these precolonial staples if we want to survive the climate collapse.

  • Whole Systems Design

    We take into consideration:
    Synergies between plants,
    micro-climates, the path of water,
    soil building -
    & the needs of
    ecological niches within
    every trophic layer.

  • Never Lose Sight of Utopia

ALL WE HAVE IS EACH OTHER.

So let’s start acting like it by breaking out of that Capitalist trance of hyper-individualism, and make a conscious effort everyday to share the
collective vision for a better world.

  • Climate Adaptive Planting

Omaha moved up a climate zone on the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map in November 2023. We went from Zone 5a to Zone 6a. The recategorization mostly only applies to the Omaha area, so I think this
has to do with the heat island effect of all the concrete.

Many of our current staple crops such as corn/soy/apples, their regions for max yields have been moving further north every year! (Source) Humans need to assist the migration of the native trees/shrubs Northward, so as to best adapt our food systems to this rapidly changing climate.

Considering this, it is also worth noting that we’re not strict about bioregion specific natives, because all of that is shifting.

Also, if you’re surrounded by concrete that gives the opportunity to experiment with non-invasive, non-native foodstuffs too. If youre on an acerage, forget it!
